Will I-95 Take Me All The Way To Canada?

…if not I am pretty much fucked for now!
Okay, I’ll start out with the good things that one can say about G Dub’s speech tonight, cause I would hate to grumble about anyone without giving them a chance.  First, let’s all give Bush a standing O for not speaking about steroids tonight: somehow McGuire and Palmero were such HUGE figures in how America functions last year, that we needed to focus on why steroids were bad (and believe it or not, cigarettes may not be healthy for ya!).  Thankfully Bush was able to keep his speech centered around matters that are actually significant to every American, so that in itself is a miracle!  Also, let’s all give George a pat on the back for talking about the environment in a manner that actually appeared to convey some concern….but let’s do no more than that, as the truth behind Bush’s interest in ethanol can clearly are clearly reflected in his 2005 $50 million cut to Sec. 9006 (Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Systems Grants/Loans program) and Sec. 6401 (Value-Add program which also provides grants to farmers and rural businesses).  So I guess that he looses points for being a bald face liar there…oops!

Next we move to the economy, does anyone out there really think that America is in danger of becoming a “second rate economy” as Bush put it tonight?  I mean, I know that Greenspan stepped down today, but seriously, we’re a superpower in the world.  But on the contrary Bush wants American to invest into their own economy by saving more money and becoming more active with their dollars, all the while it was reported today that over the course of 2005 the average American saw a 3.1% raise in pay (I didn’t, but fuck ‘em), which is the smallest increase since 1996, but after you include the average value of employee benefits and the increase in the cost of living over 2005 (thanks gas prices, thanks a bunch!) the actual value of wages have decrease by 0.8%.  Two more thumbs up for Bush there (up his ass that is),

And now for my last point of the evening, and I am going to try and be as brief as possible on this and try to remain from being offensive on this one.

Terrorism & Iraq: Now I have some family and plenty of friends involved in the Armed Forces, so I don’t want to hear how personal this is for anyone unless you, yourself, have actually been in the “shit.”  But people, why are we still over there?  What war are we fighting?  What war have we ever been fighting?  Yes, 9/11 was horrific and I wanted to skull fuck everyone responsible when it happened, just like every other American on 9/12, but it is 2006 now, and rational thought would be a nice thing to start using about now!  We were attacked in NY by a select, individually identified, terrorist organization, and yet one of our main goals in Iraq was to capture Sadam, a man who has no more alliance with Al Qaeda than America does back with Regan over the whole Russia and Afghanistan situation when we gave Al Qaeda arms to help keep the Big Red Dog out of Afghanistan.  Bin Landen is still on the run, and still mocks us every time he sends one of this home videos.  I mean, does not one get what is wrong here?  9/11: attacked by Al Qaeda, Sadam: not affiliated with Al Qaeda, but captured, Bin Laden: leader of Al Qaeda, not captured??!?!??!  Another Bush lie, weird isn’t it, almost sounds like a personal agenda, rather than the greater good of America.

Either way, what we set out to do several years ago in Iraq is over: we have Sadam, we have destroyed his armies, we have liberated the country, we have given them (forced) Democracy….SO WHY ARE WE STILL THERE?  And why does Bush want to make every American think that they will be a coward if they want us to pull out and come on back home now?  And were, amidst all this time we have for “war”, is all this compassion that Bush spoke about all night?  Since when was compassion ever handed out via guns and bullets?

Geez, why is 2008 so far away?
