Chalk Another On Up For Hallmark

Disclaimer: I absolutely despise Valentine’s Day and pretty much all other holidays that are completely designed around the idea of support the finacial gain of the diamond industry, Hallmark or candy companies.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to give and get gifts just as much, if not more, than any other person in the world, and to be honest most of the rant is the result of seeing a diamond commercial tonight, but I hate shit like this.  The basic premise of the commercial was that on Valentine’s Day some guys buy fancy cards, some guys take their significant other out for a nice dinner, some guys buy diamonds and then there are other guys who buy all three.  Now that is sweet and dandy if someone goes all out for another person on a holiday like Valentine’s Day, but we all know the purpose of the commercial was not to remind people of the upcoming holiday, rather to lay a guilt trip out for self-conscience people to confuse the monetary value of their gift with the intrinsic value of giving.
