I know that many of you have been deeply concerned as to why I have not been posting much the past few weeks. Well, it is a complicated story. So, I figured that it would be best if I would format it in a simple Top 10 countdown of the most critical reasons why I have not been behind the keyboard all too much in the month of March:

10. Dial-up The past three months, since I moved back to North Carolina, I have been living with my folks (thank goodness that all ends officially this Monday when I move into The 103) and as a result I have been subjected to having to use a dial-up modem. Now for normal posting it is annoying enough, but when I want to post a picture or link to another page; well hell, I might as well write all of you, my devoted readers a letter and send it to you; you’ll get to read the letter sooner than my damn slow ass dial-up post!

9. Nightlife This one is pretty simple:

1. I like to go out at night.
2. Charlotte has a lot of clubs, bars and pubs.

The two go together like a hand in a glove and because of such I am always out at night (when I would usually be posting).

8. Where’s My Camera I haven’t been able to locate my camera (until last night) since I moved from the Smokey Mountains, so that alone is the reasoning behind there being a lack of material in The Dark Room.

7. Writer’s Block I really haven’t thought of too much stuff to throw at my beloved readers lately. And I know that to just throw anything at you would be a disgrace to not only myself, but to the Comhrá and all that it has become. Plus, I know that there is a lot of mediocrity out there and for the Comhrá to slip toward that direction would be a slap in the face of those of you devoted to seeking a warm, fuzzy, place on the internet where you can find a good meal and an even better conversation!

6. My Parents Many a night I find myself having LONG, DRAWN OUT discussions (or arguments) with my folks over politics, religion and every other pointless topic under the sun. Apparently I don’t make sense any more to my parents because I think that President Bush hasn’t done anything during his Presidency other than wage Vietnam Part II.

5. Books Living with my folks for three months has driven me insane and the best cure for that is to wonder off to somewhere quiet and just start reading. I am almost done with Dracula (thank you Scott), but it has taken me way to long to read. Even though I am reading a whole lot more, I often find myself drifting in and out of seasons of reading where I may read a ton every night and then times when I don’t pick a book up for a week or too.

4. My Guitar Like always, I spend a good portion of my time at night playing guitar and either learning a new song or trying to make something up.

It’s only rock n’ roll, but I like it!

3. Family Dollar Now that I am part of Corporate America I hardly have time to do anything during the week. This, in turn, means that I don’t really want to sit down and type on my weekends (since they are my only chance to rest these days). Not to mention that I spend my entire work day behind a computer, so I really don’t want to come home and stare at another one all night long.

2. The X-Files I usually try to tie up any loose ends that I have outside of work as soon as I get home, so I don’t always have time to sit down and watch primetime television. Because of this I have begun to take full advantage of the DVR on my TV and I now record The X-Files every night when they come on either TNT or the Sci-Fi Network. TNT shows all the episodes in sequential order, whereas Sci-Fi just shows the episodes in a random order.

1. Halo That’s right, the number one reason why I haven’t been posting is because of a damn video game. Since returning to the Tar Heel state I have found myself with an X-box controller in my hand most nights during the week. It seems that killing virtual aliens is the best way to spend an evening, and the sad part about it all is that I have already beaten the game and replayed it again on every difficulty setting. I am currently attempting to beat the game for fourth time this month, and this time on LEGENDARY! This game is more addictive than cocaine and just like coke, ODing on Halo means severely impaired vision and twitching of the hands!

But rest assured, the cable guy will be strolling by The 103 next Tuesday, which means that high speed internet will be coming soon, and with that comes the promise that the Comhrá will be back, running with the pack, in just a matter of days!
